Visa application procedures

As a rule, applicants must submit online visa applications, together with all necessary documents, in person at the Nigerian Embassy. Visa application and payments are done online on the portal of Nigeria Immigration Service (https://immigration.gov.ng). Scheduling of appointment to visit the Embassy for submission is done on the Nigerian Embassy website. The Embassy issues the following types of visas:

  • Tourist visa
  • Business visa
  • Temporary Working Permit (TWP) visa
  • Subject To Regularization (STR) visa
  • Transit visa
  • Diplomatic visa

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR VISA

  1. Dully filled Visa Application Form; Apply here :https://immigration.gov.ng/
  2. Evidence of online payment for visa (Visa Payment Slip & Visa Acknowledgement Slip).
  3. Original letter of Invitation (the Inviting person must accept immigration responsibilities).
  4. Copy of passport data page of the inviting person.
  5. Two (2) colored 3.5cm x 4.5cm sized photographs.
  6. Certificate of vaccination for Yellow Fever (original and copy).
  7. Copy of passport main page of the applicant.
  8. Reserved air ticket and Hotel

Requirements for Tourist visa

Tourist Visas are issued to applicant who intends to visit Nigeria for tourism, social (short-term) visit of relatives and friends, religious, cultural and sporting events. Documents to provide:

  • Dully filled visa application form (via immigration.gov.ng);
  • Visa payment slip & visa acknowledgement slip (available after online payment);
  • Original letter of invitation (the inviting person must state in the letter that he/she accepts all immigration and financial responsibilities);
  • Photocopy of passport data page of inviting person;
  • Two (2) colored 3.5cm x 4.5cm sized photographs;
  • Yellow Fever vaccination certificate (original and copy);
  • Photocopy of passport data page of applicant;
  • Hotel and air ticket reservation;
  • Statement of bank account of the inviting person and the Applicant;
  • Proof of relationship to the inviting person where applicable (marriage certificate, birth certificate with translation to English language from the Bureau of Translation);
  • Foreigners in Russian Federation must provide proof of legal residency with not less than six (6) months validity.
  • DURATION: 3 months. Stay Permit – maximum of 30 days

Requirements for Business visa

Business visas are issued to applicants wish to travel to Nigeria for business purposes: business meetings, conventions and exhibitions, trade fairs. Required documents for business visa include:

  • Duly filled visa application form (via immigration.gov.ng);
  • Visa payment slip & visa acknowledgement slip (available after online payment);
  • Original letter of invitation from the Host company in Nigeria, accepting full immigration and financial responsibilities as well as stating the purpose of visit and duration of stay;
  • Photocopy of passport data page of the signatory to the invitation letter (must be a Nigerian citizen);
  • Photocopy of certificate of incorporation of the inviting Nigerian company;
  • Two (2) colored 3.5cm x 4.5cm sized photographs;
  • Yellow Fever vaccination certificate (original and copy);
  • Photocopy of passport data page of applicant;
  • Letter of introduction from applicant’s company or organization in Russian Federation;
  • Statement of bank account;
  • Hotel and air ticket reservation;
  • Foreigners in Russian Federation must provide proof of legal residency with not less than six (6) months validity;
  • DURATION: Single entry – 3 months, multiple entries – 6 months. Stay Permit – maximum of 30 days.

Requirements for Temporary Work Permit Visa (TWP)

TWP Visas is issued to applicants, who wish to travel to Nigeria for temporary jobs: crew change, installation and repairs of equipment, auditing and inspection, training.

  • Duly filled visa application form (via immigration.gov.ng);
  • Visa payment slip & visa acknowledgement slip (available after online payment);
  • Original letter of invitation from the Host company in Nigeria, accepting full immigration and financial responsibilities as well as stating the purpose of visit and duration of stay;
  • Photocopy of passport data page of the signatory to the invitation letter (must be a Nigerian citizen);
  • Photocopy of certificate of incorporation of the inviting Nigerian company;
  • Two (2) colored 3.5cm x 4.5cm sized photographs;
  • Yellow Fever vaccination certificate (original and copy);
  • Photocopy of passport data page of applicant;
  • Pre-approval letter from the Nigeria Immigration Service (original or colored photocopy);
  • Letter of introduction from applicant’s company or organization in Russian Federation where applicable;
  • Crew list where applicable;
  • Photocopy of Seaman’s Book and Seafarer Identity Card where applicable;
  • Statement of bank account;
  • Hotel and air ticket reservation;
  • Foreigners in Russian Federation must provide proof of legal residency with not less than six (6) months validity;

DURATION: 2 months. Stay Permit – maximum of 60 days.

Requirements for Subject to Regularization (STR) Visa

STR Visas are issued to applicants, who wish to travel to Nigeria for long-term (contractual or transfer) jobs.

  • Duly filled visa application form (via immigration.gov.ng);
  • Visa payment slip & visa acknowledgement slip (available after online payment);
  • Original letter of invitation from the Host company in Nigeria, accepting full immigration and financial responsibilities as well as stating the purpose of visit and duration of stay;
  • Photocopy of passport data page of the signatory to the invitation letter (must be a Nigerian citizen);
  • Photocopy of certificate of incorporation of the inviting Nigerian company;
  • Photocopy of expatriate quota issued to the inviting Nigerian company by the Nigerian Ministry of Interior;
  • Letter of offer of employment from the inviting Nigerian company;
  • Letter of acceptance of employment from the applicant and addressed to the inviting Nigerian company;
  • Five (5) colored 3.5cm x 4.5cm sized photographs;
  • Photocopy of passport data page of applicant;
  • Applicant’s educational certificates with English translation;
  • Applicant’s curriculum vitae (Resume);
  • HIV report of the Applicant with English translation;
  • Yellow Fever vaccination certificate (original and copy);
  • Foreigners in Russian Federation must provide proof of legal residency with not less than six (6) months validity;
  • NOTE: Documents to be submitted at the Embassy in triplicate copies.
  • Duration: 3 months. Stay Permit – to be issued Residence Permit in Nigeria.

Requirements for Transit Visa

Transit Visas are issued to applicants, who plan to travel to Nigeria en route to another country.

  • Duly filled visa application form (via immigration.gov.ng);
  • Visa payment slip & visa acknowledgement slip (available after online payment);
  • Original letter of invitation from the Host company in Nigeria, accepting full immigration and financial responsibilities as well as stating the purpose of visit and duration of stay;
  • Photocopy of passport data page of the signatory to the invitation letter (must be a Nigerian citizen);
  • Photocopy of certificate of incorporation of the inviting Nigerian company;
  • Two (2) colored 3.5cm x 4.5cm sized photographs;
  • Yellow Fever vaccination certificate (original and copy);
  • Photocopy of passport data page of applicant;
  • Evidence of entry document to onward destination;
  • Explanatory document in the absence of evidence of entry document to onward destination;
  • Crew list where applicable;
  • Photocopy of Seaman’s Book and Seafarer Identity Card where applicable;
  • Statement of bank account;
  • Air ticket reservation;
  • Foreigners in Russian Federation must provide proof of legal residency with not less than six (6) months validity;
  • DURATION: 3 months. Stay Permit – 7 days.

Requirements for Diplomatic visa

  • Note from Foreign Mission in the Russian Federation or from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
  • Visa application form via :https://immigration.gov.ng
  • Copy of data page of Diplomatic or Service Passport of the Applicant;
  • Two (2) colored photos 3.5cm x 4.5cm;
  • Copy of Russian Diplomatic Visa and Diplomatic Card (for Diplomats of Foreign Missions in Russian Federation).
