 “HOW I IMAGINE NIGERIA”

As part of the cultural cooperation between Nigeria and Russia, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the Russian Federation is organizing an Art project for young talented artists from Russia and Nigeria.

The first edition of the art project “How I Imagine Nigeria” (with the support of LUKOIL, the main partner of the competition) took place at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art on July 14, 2022. The event was attended by young Russian artists who were awarded awards and prizes in various categories such as painting, graphics and sculpture. After that, the exhibition was open to representatives of the diplomatic corps, as well as representatives of the Russian business community.
In preparation for the second competition of the Art Project of the Embassy on the sidelines of the Summit “RUSSIA – AFRICA 2023” in St. Petersburg, an exhibition of works by young Russian artists (graduates of the Surikov and Stroganov art schools) will be held in December 2022 – January 2023 in the Russian State Public Historical Library (GPIB), one of the oldest cultural and historical libraries in Moscow.
The opening of the exhibition took place on 12.12.2022 with the participation of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the Russian Federation Prof. Abdullahi SHEHU who welcomed the young artists and noted that the exhibition would undoubtedly serve as an excellent example of important successes, achieved in the cultural relations between Russia and Nigeria, which ultimately strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
The artists participating in the exhibition thanked Mr. Ambassador and the Embassy of Nigeria in the Russian Federation for the opportunity to participate in such an interesting international project.
